The Tutu Project

The tutu is one of the most iconic and coveted articles of clothing in Western culture; not surprising given its’ magical fusion of classic style, playfulness and feminine mystique. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the National Ballet of Canada has amassed an jaw-dropping collection of tutus. The Tutu Project features pieces by Canadian fashion designers such as David Dixon and Juma, artists like Julie Moon and Tania Sanhueza, and jewellery designer Shay Lowe.

The tutu’s radiating form is reminiscent of perky dazzling daises, check out some of these flora and landscape inspired tutu’s that I was delighted to capture at the preview event.

The Tutu Project runs July 11-September 2nd at The Design Exchange, 234 Bay Street, Toronto.
